lots of news!

my poor blog has been neglected... sigh.. not enought time in the day. lets back track shall we?

so time got sucked away starting on my birthday.. well a few days before my birthday.

my bf and i took a trip to playa del carmen, mexico. it's about 45 minutes south of cancun. smaller town, cute and no crazy huge resorts. i choose it just for that reason. we rented a car at the airport and drove down to playa, as it is fondly called by the locals. driving in mexico is so much fun! the rules are like suggestions. its very relaxed. when we got to our hotel we were so excited on how cute it was. very chic but not stuffy. the pic above was taken on the roof top where the pool and outdoor beds are. i definitly have to mention that the heat makes you so lathargic that you go in to lazy mode almost immediately when you exit the plane. it took alot for us to motivate to do stuff. the highlight of the trip was visiting the mayan ruins tulum & chichen itza and going snorkeling in a cenote (under water cave).

the cave was amazing. i'm scared of swimming in the ocean or anything that has living creatures but this was different. i had bought an underwater case for my camera and took so many pics of this amazing cave. i don't know what i would have done without it. we had a very informative guide who never rushed the tour and always offered to take pictures of us.

the rest of the trip was hanging at the beach, trying different local food and of course doing absolutely nothing!

this past weekend was the 4th of july holiday. i celebrated my cousins bday eating and watching a thai elvis perform. later in the evening we karaoked till we could no more and then went to a smashup club which was quite an experience. smashup btw is when you take a sound track of one song and layer the vocals of another song on top. i.e. kelly clarkson's behind these hazel eyes vocals over nirvana's team spirit sound track. very unique experience.

the next day my sis, bf, my friend jenny and i headed down to seaworld for the day. i saw shamu for the first time since i was like 8. granted he wasn't the same shamu and i discovered that every killer whale at seaworld is shamu so not to confuse the kids... but somehow confuses the adults! it was a great day but i realized that every theme park is ghetto compared to disneyland. disney really spoils you and sets a standard that no other park can even attempt to replicate. why the sudden plug for disney? well, let me tell u about our day... we left before lunch and got to sd in record time. however the time we saved was soon lost when we got to the parking lot. we were surprized that they we'ren't charging for parking, but soon found out why. we were in the parking lot for an hour and a half trying to park. they hadn't finished the rest of the parking lot and people were making their own spaces. it was so frustrating that at one point i screamed out the window. yes, i know very childish, but necessary. when we finally parked, more lines at the ticket booths! after that it sort of set the tone for the rest of the day. it took 45 minutes to get food, waited for shows, etc.. it was very tiring. i'm glad we went though cuz seeing shamu and the other sea animals really made up for the crappy parts of the day.

and finally july 4th! just had a chill day at my bf's parents house, bbq-ing and setting off fireworks in the street. it was a nice end to a 4 day weekend. business as usual the next day. this weekend i'm going w/ the bf to baja for a lobster feast. i'm excited cuz i get to ride on the back of his motorcycle the whole way down. scary but exciting. ok bed time. btw in all my activities i finished 2 knitted coin purses. as soon as i can i'll post pics. ciao!
