knitted coin purse

yay my second completed knitting project! awhile ago for my birthday a friend gave me that ever so popular knit knack kit with easy to hard projects. anyway, i pushed it aside and wondered if i'd ever get to using it. well, after much research and reading other peoples craft blogs, i realized like many of us, i was knitting incorrectly. of course since i had taught myself, and the result wasn't all too bad, i thought i was doing well. so i pulled out the kit an decided to knit the right way. i started with an easy project for a coin purse. i choose a fuzzy yarn cuz it's all i had laying around. i followed the directions and am pleased with the results! forgive me for the blurry pics. i was lazy & tired.

i am not a hippie but...

i have to take some time out to speak my mind about an important issue that we all have to face.

i'm not a hippie. i recycle because the city requires us to. i don't drive a hybrid. vw was the only dealer that would allow me to finance a car. i don't unplug my appliances after i use it, except my toaster oven because we're trained to know that that thing can catch fire at anytime! i leave the water running while i brush my teeth. bad habit. i do all these things and yet i have such a yearning desire to help make our environment better, not destroy it.

i am excited to watch the indie movie, an inconvient truth. i was listening to kroq this morning and the dj was interviewing the director of the movie. he was saying that before this movie he thought he was 'aware' of our growing crisis. he learned that just the little things can impact our earth's future, without having to be an extreme 'tree hugger'. (that's my interpertation of his words, not a quote.) btw, there is a neat website called treehugger.com with some great info and resources. anywho, my point is, i want to be aware. not only that i want to take steps toward making a contribution to saving our planet.

i found some informative websites today. i hope sharing them will get more people aware and active. for some reason the first thing i wanted to do was to get a hybrid after reading one article. i think is has something to do with the gas prices. then i started looking at hemp clothes. go figure! cars and clothes! uhhh i must brake out of the materialism! fooliness!
